Small Business Saturday UK

Small Business Saturday, a campaign to support, promote and inspire small businesses across the country, will be back, bigger and brighter than ever before, on 3 December 2022.

Now in its tenth year in the UK, this national campaign’s mission is to support and celebrate the UKs 5.6 million small businesses. Small Business Saturday UK is a grassroots, non-commercial campaign, which celebrates small business success and encourages consumers to ‘shop local’ and to support businesses in their communities.

You too can make a difference to our local economy by shopping small, not just on Small Business but every day you can. Think about ways you can steer some of your spend away from the big supermarkets and online retailers to our smaller businesses. It really does make a difference.

Once again the council is offering free parking in a number of its car parks across North East Lincolnshire on Small Business Saturday. These car parks are:

Cartergate, Grimsby

Market Hall, Grimsby

Town Hall, Grimsby

Grimsby Fishing Heritage Centre

Garabaldi Street, Grimsby

Meridian Craft Units, Cleethorpes

High Street, Cleethorpes

St Peter’s Avenue, Cleethorpes

Town Hall/Cambridge Street, Cleethorpes

Wardell Street, Cleethorpes

Grant Street, Cleethorpes

Thrunscoe Land car park, Cleethorpes

We are also delighted that local business, Grimsby Garden Centre, was chosen as a #SmallBiz100 company this year and was showcased across Small Business Saturday’s social media channels on 6 October. This not-for-profit organisation is owned by NHS mental health services provider NAViGO, a Community Interest Company (CIC). Any profits are reinvested into the improvement of the garden centre and to support local mental health services while providing skills and employment opportunities to people with mental health problems.

The Small Business Saturday tour is coming to both Grimsby and Cleethorpes. Part of their 24-town and city tour across the UK, there will be live-streamed interviews with inspirational local small businesses, virtual workshops and mentoring, daily Happy Hours on Instagram with amazing small biz prizes and much more!  You can follow this year’s zero emissions roadshow every weekday on the SBS social media channels, and take part in their free online The Tour Webinars that cover a range of small business topics too.  The tour will be situated at St James Square from 10am to 12.15pm and then the team will move to St Peter’s Avenue Cleethorpes until 2pm.

Also on Thursday 10 November in Grimsby from 9am to 10.30am, businesses can join us at an informal networking session at Grimsby Minister for some breakfast and meet the team from North East Lincolnshire Council, Investment Hub and e-Factor. The teams are taking the opportunity to meet as many small businesses as possible that day before the Small Business Saturday tour arrives in Grimsby for its 10am start.
