£1m funding allocated for Advanced Manufacturing Unit in Stallingborough – which could help unlock further growth.
The Humber Local Enterprise Partnership’s (LEP) Board has committed almost £1m in funding to develop an Advanced Engineering Manufacturing Unit on the Enterprise Zone site in Stallingborough.
The project will deliver a 15,000 sqft light industrial unit, designed to meet the needs of an advanced engineering manufacturing business. The unit will offer a mix of office, research and development, manufacturing and distribution space.
The Humber LEP Board has committed £950,000 from the Humber’s Local Growth Fund allocation towards the project – the funding was secured from Government as part of their commitment to the Northern Powerhouse.
The unit will be suitable for a range of business uses in the long term and is intended to support the advanced manufacturing sector which has been identified by North East Lincolnshire Council as a particular target for the site. The 64ha site is a designated Enterprise Zone and is being promoted and delivered by North East Lincolnshire Council with support from landowners.
This scheme has been brought forward to secure an anchor tenant in order to generate further investment interest at the Stallingborough site.
North East Lincolnshire Council also are set to commit £1,766,880 towards the project – which will support 80 new jobs and will provide 1,394 sqm of floorspace in total once complete.
Chair of the Humber LEP, Lord Haskins, said: “We are very pleased to be allocating this funding towards a facility that will help to establish advanced engineering manufacturing in Stallingborough.
“The manufacturing sector is one of huge importance to our region – and is an area we have highlighted in our Humber Industrial Strategy as essential to the future growth of the region.
“We hope this unit not only provides jobs for local people as the project is completed, but also helps to attract further businesses to the Stallingborough site.”
Cllr John Fenty, Cabinet member for regeneration at North East Lincolnshire Council, said:
“This will be the first major build on the Stallingborough site, and we’re in advanced discussions with an anchor tenant.
“The South Humber project itself will see a number of key projects delivered over a 5-10 year period and when complete the programme will create 90 hectares of additional employment land, create 4,000 new jobs and generate £200m within the local economy over the next 25 years.
