Small Business Saturday UK

Small Business Saturday, a campaign to support, promote and inspire small businesses across the country, will be back, bigger and brighter than ever before, on 4 December 2021.

Now in its ninth year in the UK, this national campaign has grown significantly each year with a record £1.1 billion spent with small businesses on Small Business Saturday in 2020, and 15.4 million people choosing to shop small. You too can make a difference to our local economy by shopping small, not just on Small Business but every day you can. Think about ways you can steer some of your spend away from the big supermarkets and online retailers to our smaller businesses. It really does make a difference.

Once again the council is offering free parking in a number of its car parks across North East Lincolnshire on Small Business Saturday. These car parks are:

Market Hall

Town Hall

Grimsby Fishing Heritage Centre

Garabaldi Street

Meridian Craft Units

High Street

St Peter’s Avenue

Town Hall/Cambridge Street

Wardell Street

Grant Street

Thrunscoe Land car park

We are also delighted that local business, Made In Grimsby, has been chosen as a #SmallBiz100 company this year and will be showcased across Small Business Saturday’s social media channels on their allocated day, which will be 10 November – the same the Small Business Saturday tour comes to town.

Part of their 24-town and city tour across the UK, there will be live-streamed interviews with inspirational local small businesses, virtual workshops and mentoring, daily Happy Hours on Instagram with amazing small biz prizes and much more!  You can follow this year’s zero emissions roadshow every weekday on the SBS social media channels, and take part in their free online The Tour Webinars that cover a range of small business topics too.  The tour will be situated at St James Square.

The Loyal to Local campaign team wanted to take the opportunity to meet as many small businesses as possible that day so are putting on two informal networking sessions in the morning. Come and grab a coffee with us and say hello! We’d love to see you!

Networking session 2 – 10.30am to 11.30am at Grimsby Minster (head for the café area)
