The Leader of North East Lincolnshire Council and the portfolio for environment and transport attended Corporation Bridge on Friday 21 July to carry out a site visit with specialist contractor Spencer Group and the council’s delivery partner Equans.
Updates were provided to Councillor Philip Jackson and Councillor Stewart Swinburn by Spencer Group site agent, Ben Lorne.
The installation of scaffolding on Span 1 and the encapsulated area is now complete, with blasting of the main structure now taking place.
Damaged and corroded steel deck plates have been removed, 50 of which must be replaced and 10 being lifted for further inspections.
Further scaffolding continues to be installed on the bridge.
Below shows the extent of corrosion to the underside of the bridge, showing the need for vital works to be undertaken to maintain it for many years to come.
