The Background
Established in 2010 as a sole trader business by Danny Smith, Grand Designs Kitchens and Bedrooms has quickly evolved over the past 10 years now providing complete design, installation and build services with 12 full time employees.
Manufacturing locally from their Adam Smith Street site, Grand Designs produce the highest quality, handmade bespoke rigid kitchens and bedrooms in an array of styles and finishes from traditional, contemporary and modern using their state-of-the-art machinery and trusted expertise.
The Case
With ‘home improvements’ seeing an influx during lockdown, Grand Designs were at maximum capacity and needing to invest in a new specialist Edgebanding machine in order to keep up with growing demands for kitchens and bedrooms.
Having successfully worked with the Investment Hub NEL previously, they quickly approached the team to investigate if there would be any support available to assist with purchasing the new piece of equipment. Sarah Brattan from The Hub said “as an expanding growth business in North East Lincolnshire, this was a perfect case for The Hub to be involved with.”
The Result
The Investment Hub were able to signpost to Grants for Growth where they were able to submit their application quickly with a two week turnaround and securing £11k in funding to support the purchase.
Owner Danny Smith commented “the business has doubled in growth year on year since we moved to our new site in 2018 and now with increased production speeds, we’re expecting to grow even more rapidly so will be looking to take on more staff very soon!
