Moody Lane improvement update

11:15 am, Wednesday, 15th April 2020

North East Lincolnshire Council and its regeneration partner, ENGIE, have been in discussions with the Moody Lane contractor, CR Reynolds, to revise the works programme due to the COVID-19 impact on the supply chain.

Works to complete the carriageway resurfacing between the west approach of the Moody Lane and Gilbey Road junction to Gate One of the former Huntsman Tioxide Site have been rescheduled to start on Wednesday 22 April. These works will take three nights to complete between 7pm and 6am under a temporary road closure.

Advanced warning signs will be erected on site and a signed diversion route will be in place. Vehicle and pedestrian access to businesses affected by the works will be maintained at all times.

The next part of the Moody Lane project is scheduled to start on Monday 27 April and will take approximately five weeks.

This phase of the work will see the installation of an additional lane on Moody Lane on the approach to Westgate roundabout. Additionally, the street lighting columns will be upgraded, and the carriageway and shared foot and cycleway resurfaced as part of the works.

To allow the contractor to complete this phase of works safely, the works will take place in three parts.

Phase five A – 27 April to 15 May

Works starting on Monday 27 April will include installing the additional lane on Moody Lane leading to the approach of Westgate roundabout and upgrading the street lighting. This phase of works is expected to take three weeks and be completed on Friday 15 May.

To allow the contractor to carry out these works safely, a temporary one-way traffic flow system will be in place on Moody Lane. Access from Westgate roundabout will remain the same during the works. Access from Gilbey Road will be up to West Coates Road only. Traffic leaving West Coates Road will turn left on to Moody Lane and travel towards Gilbey Road. Signage advising of the one-way system will be in place.

Phase five B  – 18 May to 22 May

The second part of works will start on Monday 18 May with improvements to the footways due to be carried out. This work is expected to take one week to complete.

To complete this phase safely, the temporary one-way traffic flow system will remain in place but be reversed from the previous phase. Traffic will be able to access Westgate roundabout from Moody Lane. Access will not be available from Westgate roundabout on to Moody Lane and will be diverted via Gilbey Road or Woad Lane. Traffic leaving West Coates Road will be unaffected. Signage advising of the one-way system will be in place.

Phase five C  – 26 May to 29 May

Phase five C will start on Tuesday 26 May. The final part of phase five will include carriageway and shared foot and cycleway resurfacing works between Westgate roundabout and the ABP level crossing on Moody Lane.

Works will be carried out under a temporary road closure overnight between 7pm and 6am and be completed on Friday 29 May.

Advanced warning signs and a diversion route will be erected on site. Vehicle and pedestrian access to businesses affected by the works will be maintained at all times.
