River survey this week in Grimsby

10:48 am, Monday, 11th May 2020

SPECIALIST survey work is taking place on a short stretch of the River Freshney this week, to determine how the riverside section of the West Haven Maltings buildings can be stabilised.

Contractors, who will ensure they do not disturb the nesting swans or any other birdlife, are gathering data on the river’s condition alongside the building’s southern elevation. The work will take a day and is an important assessment as specialists plan the structure’s renovation.

North East Lincolnshire Council purchased the historic West Haven Maltings, on Garth Lane, as part of monies released through the Great Grimsby Town Deal. It is working with its regeneration partner ENGIE to restore the buildings, which will be developed as a new Youth Zone by the national charity OnSide.
