Small business Saturday – 7 December

10:02 am, Friday, 1st November 2019

Small Business Saturday, a campaign to support, promote and inspire small businesses across the country, will be back, bigger and brighter than ever before, on the 7 December 2019.

2019 will be the seventh year that the UK have participated in Small Business Saturday, which was introduced to encourage spending with small, independent firms around Black Friday and Cyber Monday which predominantly benefit larger stores in the run up to Christmas.

Small Business Saturday 2018 brought in record figures, with £812 million spent in small businesses across the UK on the day.

Do you know that more than 97 per cent of businesses in North East Lincolnshire are classed as small enterprises (having less than 50 employees)?

Supporting small local businesses is something that we encourage throughout the year, so please continue to lend your support to this campaign by having a rethink about where to buy goods and services. By spending just some of your weekly shopping budget with a local business, you can make a huge impact on the local economy and on that small business.

This year, Small Business Saturday UK takes place on Saturday 7 December and once again, North East Lincolnshire Council is proud to be supporting the campaign with free parking in most council-operated car parks.

We are also delighted that local business, Riverhead Coffee, has been chosen as a #SmallBiz100 company this year and will be showcased across Small Business Saturday’s social media channels on their allocated day, which will be 7 November – the same the Small Business Saturday tour bus comes to town.

The bus will be situated at the Riverhead offering free marketing packs for businesses to collect.

Businesses are invited to meet with the organisers of Small Business Saturday when the tour bus comes to town.
